game each. now the series shifts onto new york and yankees stadium. charley is live at camden yards and i imagine o fans left in high spirits last night. >> reporter: they left the ball park in great spirits megan. 48,000 strong came out for a blue collar win by the team. sunday night's game one was about celebrating with the fans. you got to give the team that. and while it was a lost sunday last night anything but that. 48,000 strong look like we said came out and they were not disappointed. after the game, a number of players and media types and personalities tweeting about the orioles victory adam jones called it the first real victory in 15 years. there's much work to be done and modern family star said she didn't see the game but she was in rehearsal for parts of the show, but she was proud of the orioles nonetheless. after the game, the orioles were met in the clubhouse by peter angelos, the majority owner of the team and he

congratulated each player individually for what they have done throughout the course of the year and jim johnson gave mr. angelos a game ball from the team's win in texas a few days earlier. that put them in the position they are in today. and after the game, the team and the manager buck showalter was talk about the win. >> one win closer to winning three. we have got through texas knowing we had to win 11 games and starting out winning 3 is hard. we know it's a tough task ahead of us. but you know, we like the mathematics after tonight and at least you are one step closer. >> one theme we want to win i want to help the team to win. and that's my hope. and that's my dream. >> reporter: now when the orioles return to new york for game 3 wednesday night they will be reminded it was 1996. the ball under the fly ball but it was snagged by mayer the thief. well jeter was given credit for the home run. that tied it at 4. baltimore

coach was convict on sexually abusing 10 boys over 15 years. he could be sentenced to life in prison. he plans to fight for a new trial. >> they can take away my life. they can make me out as a monster and treat me as a monster. but they can't take away my heart. and in my heart i know i did not do these alleged disgusting acts. >> reporter: at least one of his victims will take the stand to testify at today's sentencing. linda so, abc2 news. coming in about 10 minutes we want you to stay with us because the case made so many of you parents listen up, pay attention and wonder what would i do. the director of the baltimore child abuse center adam rosenberg is here and will answer some of the questions for us. a bitter sweet birthday a 16th birthday for family and friends of grace mccomas the high schooler who was a student who committed suicide in april after being the target of cyber

bullies. and now today her cousins are coming together celebrating her life in a really special way with a special birthday invitation. sherrie johnson is here with how people can remember hem her. >> reporter: her family -- her. >> reporter: her family members want to fight against cyber bullying and hurtful words. send a text message of kindness through social media to someone that may boost their spirits. so far more than 4500 people signed up for the kindness for grace day. cousin of grace mccomas says she would be alive if the bullies gabe her the same respect. she committed suicide on easter sunday after the family says she was bullied online for over a year. now her cousins are challenging people to say kind words through twitter and facebook and e-mail. they believe kindness would have kept grace alive. the goal is to reach the bullies and have them delete the words that kill. >> it helps with people's self- esteem because i think that tends to be a problem nowadays. kid have slow self-esteem. they don't think they are good

you imagine jumping out of a plane 23 miles up in the air? of course. no one can the thought of it probably makes you cringe a little bit. a daredevil is stepping up to challenge. he is preparing for this

problems getting downtown. you are looking at an 11 minute ride delay free from the beltway to fayette street. that's your traffic. now over to you megan. 6:17. we have been spending a lot of time talking about jerry sandusky not just because he is being sentenced today but because of the hidous crimes that were committed and what good can come from it. and we can be better parents and teachers and community leaders something we have learned. and that's why adam rosenberg the director. baltimore child abuse center is coming in to talk to us about this. thanks for being here. >> thank youch good morning. >> good morning. one -- thank you. good morning. >> good morning. we were talking about what parents should know and the discussion they should have with their kid. i what do they do? >> i think people should feel comfortable knowing they can and should report abuse if they suspect it. we run a great nonprofit that has the ability to help a lot of kids over 1 how thooft-- over 1,000 last year. but no one can get the help unless they report the suspected abuse and then we can

figure out what happened. >> they can call you guys what exactly is the baltimore child abuse center if someone is not familiar with it. >> a child advocacy center. one of the law and orders we are the one stop shop when kids report abuse and someone suspects abuse happened they come to us and we quickly within two hours, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week talk to children. fine out what happened and have experience profession -- find out what happened and have experienced professionals and a medical clinic a find consistent or inconsistent signs of physical abuse. we make mental health referrals and do therapy on-site and teach parents and kids to prevent this from happening again or how to move forward. >> we were disgusted when the case came out. but you said it happens all the time and happens anywhere. >> yeah. the numbers are one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused by the time they are 18. one of the key things is realizing we have to talk about this. >> reporter: one in four girls?that's shocking.

>>es it's a shocking number. it's greater than kids with autism or cancer. topics we feel we can talk about and do something, this is happening all around us. it cost 120 billion dollars a year to deal with the inintended health consequence of abuse. let's do something rather than standing on the sidelines. >> sandusky sentenced today what would you like to see happen. >> i would like to see a serious sentenced. look, 30 years, 50 years at this point is tantamount to a lifesentence but it needs to be symbolic so victims of the crimes know they received justice. the public knows we are not going to stand for institutional abuse like this. and people who violated the trust of children. so, sure, you know, 50 year sentence or multiple life sentence would be great because it's the symbol and it's not the end of this. this continues on. there are other cases and allegations coming up across the country of kids abused and hopefully this is that lightning rod people can come forward and say if they received justice so can we. and they receive help we can
